The cottages are 3.5 miles inland from Gatehouse of Fleet, an attractive small country town with a good range of restaurants and pubs. There is useful local shopping with a supermarket open until late 7 days a week; post office, chemist, and book and gift shops.

Cream o' Galloway, a local farm where ice cream is made is easy to reach and offers an exciting day out for all the family.
Several of Galloway's distinctive towns are within easy reach: Kirkcudbright the Artists' Town has galleries and a museum; Castle Douglas is the Food Town whereas Newton Stewart is a thriving market town close to Wigtown, Scotland's Book Town with over 16 specialist bookshops.
